Employee Spotlight: Adam Loewen

employee spotlight

Every two weeks, we highlight one of our amazing recruiters so you can get to know the Morgan Hunter team a little bit better. This week we spoke with the Adam Loewen, Director of our Information Technology Division!

What did you do before you were a recruiter with Morgan Hunter?

I had an interesting journey before joining Morgan Hunter. After returning to my hometown of Lawrence, KS after college, I worked with behavioral disorder students at a junior high school. At the same time, I worked with Assist, LLC, mentoring a student with autism. It was a time in my life I’m thankful for and always keep with me to this day. I then worked in sales for 6 years, before falling into recruiting in 2006. I focused on the Accounting and Finance industry for two years before landing at Morgan Hunter. I can’t believe that was 10 years ago!

Where did you go to college?

The Cooper Union in New York City.

What did you earn your bachelor’s degree in and why?

I discovered a passion for art my junior year of high school. My teacher shared that there was a renowned art, architecture and engineering school in New York that was FREE if you were accepted. Being one of 6 kids, that was all my parents needed to hear. I focused mainly on oil painting and art history. Leaving the Midwest and experiencing a different slice of the world was the best education I received while in college.

What is your favorite ‘90s jam?

I listened to The Toadies Rubberneck album before every single basketball game in college, particularly the song Tyler.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Lots of whatever my two kids will eat. Always something ready for the grill and the sweet nectar known as Miller Lite, which pairs well with anything that has grill marks on it.

If you won $100 million in the lottery, what would you spend your money on?

I mentioned my 5 siblings. I would love to help all my growing family and explore any passion that a safety net affords you. I would also want my kids to see the world and gain perspective, which we all need.

What would you do if you were given a month sabbatical from work?

I would pick a month in the summer and literally just hang with my family, distraction-free.

If we were to open your snack drawer, what would we find?

It’s always empty because I’m constantly eating. I’ve been named “Tapeworm” by those who see me snack and eat continually throughout the day.

What should employers expect in the 2018 market?

Talent is gone fast. We share this to help, not hurry. If you see the right person, act or they will be gone before you know it.

What should job seekers know about the 2018 job market?

KC is booming with opportunity.  If you are unsatisfied with your career or job, there are options!

If you could provide one tip to job seekers what would it be?

Get to know those that know what is really happening beyond the job boards. The real market is the iceberg under the water and the right recruiter with a matching network. Don’t settle and find the right role!
