Employee Anniversary Spotlight: Julie Davis

JDavis

At Morgan Hunter, we’re lucky to have so many tenured recruiters. As our employees celebrate their Morgan Hunter anniversaries, we thought you’d like to get to know them a little better! Today Julie Davis, Director of our Administrative and Human Resources Divisions and our most tenured recruiter, is celebrating 20 years with Morgan Hunter!

When did you start working at Morgan Hunter?

20 years ago! It was right after I got married. I went on my honeymoon, came back and started working at Morgan Hunter.

What do you enjoy most about working at Morgan Hunter?

I love my coworkers. I have an awesome job-share partner, Carol Schmidt. I would say we probably have one of the longest job-share partnerships, over 15 years in the job-share. It’s the people that keep me coming back.

Favorite memory from your time at MH?

A lot has changed in the recruiting world! When I started, we didn’t have email or the internet, so when we presented candidates, we had to fax over their resume. There was no LinkedIn of course. Heavy advertising in the newspaper was our main source of candidates. So yeah, it was a lot different.

Favorite KC restaurant?

Lidia’s

Favorite movie/book?

Notting Hill. I love British movies, the accent, and the humor.

Favorite TV show?

I love Netflix! I’ve been binge watching Bloodline.

Favorite food?

Mediterranean

Favorite thing to do outside of work?

I have three boys and I love watching them play sports — baseball, basketball, and soccer. I also love watching KU basketball and the Royals.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

Greece — Mykonos Islands

Best advice to give a candidate?

Do your research and due diligence on companies you interview with. One of the most important questions to ask a potential employer is why the position is open. It will give you a good idea if there’s been turnover or if it’s a newly created position.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I knew I wanted to be a career woman. I thought I would end up in the banking/finance world since my dad was an accountant.

What’s your favorite thing to do in KC?

I love Prairie Fire! Hanging out at Pinstripes and shopping the local shops.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I am a huge AC/DC fan!  I was lucky enough to see their last concert ever this year in KC.

Best candidate success story?

About 16 years ago, I placed an HR generalist and we became friends. I’ve gotten to know her through the years and it’s been fun to see how her career has prospered.  We have stayed in touch and do lunch often.

What would you consider your greatest achievement?

First of all, my boys — trying to raise good, responsible, respectful boys. That would be first and foremost. And I think just being at Morgan Hunter for 20 years. I know that’s unheard of today, to be at the same company for 20 years.
